Visitor Policy

Interview with Karl and Willie

JM: How often could you receive visitors?
Karl: Twice a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Willie: you can have visitors twice a week if i remember correctly, unless you were in seg where you can only have attorney visits.

JM: Was the check-in process lengthy for those who came to see you?
Karl: At least an hour every time and the visit was only 20 minutes long.
Willie: yes, the check in process had lots of rules and was very tedious and demeaning when they were searched. Billerica would always treat my fellow inmateses visitors like inmates.

JM: What was the visiting environment like?
Karl: It was glass wall with a black phone. That was also the worst part being that close to somebody you loved but not being able to hold them or anything.
Willie: i never got any visits while i was there but i heard the guards were jerks about physical contact. I dont know if it was allowed or not but i dont think it was allowed at all. i think there were phones and glass but i dont know because i never got a visor
