Interview with Jessica, Joe Smith, Rod, Ben and Jade
JM: How often could you receive visitors? Jessica: I DID NOT GET ANY VISITORS, BUT I DO REMEMBER
SEEING THE HOURS POSTED AS I WAS LEAVING JAIL. I
WAS NEVER TOLD THAT I COULD HAVE VISITORS. Joe Smith: I'm not sure. Rod: na Ben: You had to get appointment set up for visiting and
it would have been through video Jade: like three times a WEEK, FOR 15 MINUTES ON A
CAMERA AND THEY HAD TO CALL AND SCHEDULE THE
VISITS.
JM: Was the check-in process lengthy for those who came to see you? Jessica: NO, I NEVER HAD VISITORS. Joe Smith: Not sure. Rod: na Ben: I never got the chance to have anybody see me. my
family and friend were pretty upset with me so I did
not get any visitors Jade: Not sure becouse we did not see that [part. Like
I said they calle dto set up a appointment and
then had to ocme during that time or lose the
visit.
JM: What was the visiting environment like? Jessica: NOT SURE. DID NOT HAVE VISITORS. Joe Smith: The visiting was done over a video feed into the
housing unit. So anyone could walk up behind you
and look at your visitor over your shoulder. Rod: na Ben: well i was never able to actually have anyone visit
me but I can tell what it was about. there are
video monitors both in the unit and in the visiting
area so you do not actually get to see each other in
person but only get to talk to each other through
video Jade: It was smack dab in the middle of the day room.
And visits were on camera. for 15 minutes. It
was like a face to face phone interveiw. Kind of
weind, non-personal but non the less needed.
There was no privacy others could walk by and
see the visitors. THIS WAS HARD.
