Meals

Interview with Christian and Claire

JM: How many meals did you get per day?
Christian: Three.
Claire: you receive 3 meals per day and they are gross!

JM: How would you rate the food? Please give details of why.
Christian: Terrible. Oh my god, aaaaahhhh, it reminded me of astronaut food except it was solid. No flavor.
Claire: The food is never fresh. They serve slop. They have mystery meat that no one ever eats, they have water that they serve for a beverage. There is no condiments or salt and pepper. The food is very bland with no flavor. However you can always buy commissary and eat noodles or other things which is what I did very often.

JM: Did you have any favorite/least favorite meals?
Christian: Dried bread, big nasty sausages, soybean burgers. The milk was good. Unless you had a job and worked on the 8th floor. That's where they served the officers lunch. Workers up there got to eat that food, and it was a lot better. You couldn't get soda.
Claire: I hated the mystery meat and the liver and onions they served. They still have never suggested what the meat actually is.

JM: Were there any other snacks offered outside of meals? What was commissary like and how expensive was it?
Christian: No. You have to order snacks off commissary.
Claire: Commissary is not cheap. I was lucky to have someone put 60$ a week on my books. Ramen noodles are 1.25$ a pack when in the stores they are actually only 25 cents. The price of commissary is outrageous there.
