Closing Advice

Interview with Ricardo, Lori, Carlos, Kirk, Tyler, Enrique and Anna

JM: What else would you want a friend or family member to know if they have a loved one going to this jail?
Ricardo: Basically be clean, mind your business and follow the tank rules. Oh dont show weakness, dont think about home it will make your time go by slow. Take it for what it is a time to read books and workout, utilize that time.
Lori: avoid this at all costs...it is hugely mentally/physically and emotionally debilitating. I t was one of the worst situations i have ever lived. I have advised others that it is a despicable situation and is utterly life affecting.
Carlos: Just visit often and put money in there books
Kirk: Keep your head down and your mouth shut keep your bunk area clean and clean up after yourself ask around to learn the rules that the inmates have set for easy living
Tyler: that it is not a bad place like a lot of people say it is , you just have to follow the rules and clean up after yourself to not have problems
Enrique: To start saving up and have money for your commissary. Also if they know they are going to jail it would help save money to wear like 3 socks and 3 pair of underwear.
Anna: That it is soooo important to provide that family member with money to purchase hygiene as well as food. Also it is important to set up a phone account because it is very lonely.

JM: If somebody knows they will be serving time in this jail what is your advice to them?
Ricardo: Try to get trustee so the days go by fast and you stay busy.
Lori: Do you know what you are doing...the hugeness of being in jail and not having ready freedoms and the caged in lack of self or any control you may have on what is happening around yourself.
Carlos: Do your time don't let the time do you
Kirk: Keep your head down and your mouth shut keep your bunk area clean and clean up after yourself ask around to learn the rules that the inmates have set for easy living
Tyler: my advice is to always be watching your back because at any time anyone can hurt you , and just be friendly and don't act tuff that way you wont have problems unless you want problems
Enrique: Keep you head up dont show weakness dont talk about things that are not true if they find out jail is boring beating you up for lies is just a way to pass time. Keep clean as much as possible keep you cloths clean and try and stay healthy. Keep a good communication with you family and try and stick to yourself.
Anna: Stay to yourself and do not get involved with all the gossip and drama that goes on the jail. Try everyday to work with somebody either on the floor or in the sewing room.
