JM: How many different blocks were there? Roxie: I believe there were three cell blocks for women;
plus a dorm-type setting. Jaime: 7 normal pods, medical, suicide watch, the hole
JM: Did they have names? If so, what were they? Roxie: I don't recall the names, I believe I was in 'T'
cell block. Jaime: A pod
B pod
C pod
D pod
E pod
F pod
G pod
Not sure the names of medical pod
And adseg (administrative segregation-"the hole")
JM: Which types of inmates were housed in the different blocks? Roxie: One was for Felony Charges; One was for
Misdemeanors; One was for Protective Custody. For
example, there was a young lady accused of murdering
her child upon birth. She was in PC. There were
also some single and double cells. Jaime: A,B,C,D,E,F&G pods are normal pods where most male and
female inmates are housed. The medical pod is for severely ill
and mentally ill inmates. Suicide watch people are in a big
openroom with cots, they get paper nightgowns to wear and
are constantly monitered. Adseg is the hole, its where people
who are in trouble go
JM: What do you remember being the nicest and worst parts about the different blocks? Roxie: They were all so open. No real privacy between the
different cells. The PC was particularly open for
all to see into. The dorm setting allowed for more
movement, yet very little privacy. I had no problem
with my 12-person cell nor the ladies I was housed
with. It was set up conveniently. Jaime: I cant really recall anything nice about that jail except maybe
theres not much fear of it burning down since its mostly
cement. I remember the guard wasnt in the guard tower for
quite awhile and some guy a couple pods over from me had a
heart attack and it took banging on the walls and yelling from
everyone in 3 pods for several minutes before they even
came to investigate. It was super cold in the winter, dirty and
overcrowded.
