JM: Did you always have access to necessary medications? Nancy: no.brought-in-current-scripts,recently
filled,that-I-have-been-taking-more-than-one-year.Detention-
nurse-decided-I-was-taking-too-much-of-my-
antidepressant(even-tho-Iam-followed-by-a-private-
psychiatrist)&decreased-my-dose-immediately.She-also-decided-
I-didnt-need-any-anxiety-medication&refused-to-give-it-to-me-
even-tho-I-had-all-of-these-meds-in-my-property.If-you-woke-
up-with-a-headache
or
stomach-ache,inmate-must-send-electronic"kite"for-meds,which-
would-then-be-administered-w/in
24 hours. Bryce: I was not on medication. Med cart did come three
times a day though.
JM: How did you get your medications? Nancy: Detention nurse came at 6:15am(morning
meds),4:30pm(afternoon meds),& between
7pm-9pm(evening meds). Meds not given (even
aspirin) w/out previous "kite" sent&nurses approval. Bryce: I wasn't on any medications while I was in the jail.
Others would get their medications at the right
times, and have to take them in front on the nurse
and deputy.
JM: What types of punishments were incurred for abuse of drugs? Did you ever witness this? Nancy: Have no knowledge of "street-drugs" in
facility.however all forms of pill-meds
were-crushed-by-nurse prior to-receiving to avoid
inmates "cheeking" meds to-save-for-later/or
other-inmates. Bryce: I never witnessed any abuse of drugs in the short
time I was there. I'm sure the punishment would of
been lock down, or maybe even a new charge.
