Interview with Tammy, Tiffany, Sarah, Rachel and Betty
JM: Did you get off early based on good behavior? Tammy: yes, I did 90 days out of 120 for good behavior and
also i was a trustee and worked in the kitchen. Tiffany: No. I had to serve all my months left on probation. Full 24
months. Sarah: No I did not get off early because of good
behavior Rachel: no i got released on sor then on my own
reconginize Betty: i did not get out early based on good behavior
because i had to have a bond
JM: What is the most time off you can receive for good behavior? Tammy: not really sure how the point system worked - I know
you get a certain amount of "good time or gain time"
a month Tiffany: County time in florida is 5 days a month i believe. Sarah: I believe you can work in the kitchen and
laundry room and receive time off but im not
sure how much Rachel: i do not know anything about that Betty: i could not get any time off because i needed a
bond to get released
JM: What types of actions do you need to avoid in order to get time off? Did you ever witness somebody losing time off for good behavior? Tammy: avoid fights with inmates, any attitudes with
officers or refusing to do what they say. Also you
can get time off by being a trustee ( working in the
jail either in kitchen, cleaning or other jobs they
might have Tiffany: Fighting or having contraband. Cussing at guards. Just pretty
much acting like they have no sense. Stealing other inmates
canteen is a big problem- mostly because it can and usually
will escalate to a bigger (fight) problem. Sarah: You need to avoid fighting and sneaking drugs
into the jail. Whenever people fight even if you
did not start it you get more time . Rachel: if people start fights or when people go to
court and they start tallint to other inmates or
people in the court room they are not suposs to
do that, the officer informs us of that before we
even go into sit for court Betty: I had good behavior the whole time i was placed
into custody i could not receive any time off
because i needed a bond and did not see anybody
misbehave
