Medications

Interview with Tammy, Tiffany, Sarah, Rachel and Betty

JM: Did you always have access to necessary medications?
Tammy: when booked into jail, they find out about health history. if your on meds, the medical department will make sure you get your medication. If you got sick - you would put a request to go to see the doctor or nurse. then once seeing them if needed they would prescribe medication for you.
Tiffany: Yes i believe you must have a script. Nurse dispenses twice a day i believe.
Sarah: No. You have to make a call sheet to be seen by a DR and it usually takes two days .
Rachel: i do not take medications
Betty: yes they called medicine early in the morning but i was not required to take any medicine

JM: How did you get your medications?
Tammy: the nurses or medical assistants would come around 2-3 times aday. Well it actually depends on how often you had to take the meds. but medical department would bring it to you for sure
Tiffany: N/a i was not on any meds. But they would line up morning and night to recieve meds dispensed by nurse who comes to the cell.
Sarah: I dont not take any medications . If you wanted asprin they had it on the cart when they brought peoples medications around. The nurse comes up and drops off people meds in the morning noon and night
Rachel: i do not get medications so i know nothing about how people get their medication, i do know the office or nurse comes around in the morning calling names for people to come get it
Betty: i was not on any medication while i was in jail but they came in the morning to give it to the other inmates

JM: What types of punishments were incurred for abuse of drugs? Did you ever witness this?
Tammy: you would get a DR (disaplinary report) and possibly put in a cell by yourself or depending on nature, loose good/gain time and sometimes your visitation or phone privelages.
Tiffany: You go to the hole. Solitary confinement. I really never seen any drug use. Although it seemed to be common to huff cleaning supplies.
Sarah: I dont think you can abuse drugs because they make you open your mouth and drink a cup of water .
Rachel: i did not witness anyvody doing drugs because i kept to my self and myned my own business,I hate to b in peoples problems
Betty: i did not witness any type of puninshments or hear anybody talking about bringing or abusing any drugs while i was there
