Interview with Tammy, Tiffany, Sarah, Rachel and Betty
JM: How many different blocks were there? Tammy: Alot, I dont know exactly cause they had males on
one side and females on other. Tiffany: On my floor 4 on the east side Sarah: There were three different blocks on my level Rachel: i dont know what blocks mean Betty: i dont know what blocks are
JM: Did they have names? If so, what were they? Tammy: well where i was our section was like A, B, C, D
etc.so i guess they were named with a letter. Tiffany: A B C & D . With a main watchguard (usually a civilian) i.
The middle of the units. Sarah: west 3 b , west 3 a , west 3 c Rachel: i dont remember hearing anything about blocks,i
dont even remember what a block it Betty: i do not know what blocks are but if you are
talking about the rooms i think they were
numbers or letters
JM: Which types of inmates were housed in the different blocks? Tammy: they have minimum security, medium security and
maximum security. It all depends on the charge,
Like minimum would be a mistermeanor or someone
who doesnt have a history of being violent or in
gangs. Max is for violent or like a murder
charge. Or someone who is a risk of excaping or
fighting with other inmates or officers Tiffany: All females on that specific floor. And only females on that
floor. They tend to keep the sexes totally seperated. And with
good cause. Also female inmates at this facility only are
watched over by female guards. Sarah: There is alot of different inmates housed in the
same place. The ones who start fights would just
get moved into a different block and if you have
a "keep away" you are supposed to tell guards
for your safety Rachel: sorry once again i never heard or anything to do
with blocks,im taking a wild guess maybe a block
is a different cell room or something but maybe
the blocks are people thave have done bad things Betty: there were all different type of inmates in the
jail and they all had different charges i really
did not pay attention i just minded my own
business and did what i was suposs to do
JM: What do you remember being the nicest and worst parts about the different blocks? Tammy: theres nothing nice about the blocks but i have to
say - palm beach county was better than other jails
i been too. each block or cell had a laundry room
with washer/dryer in it so we got to do our own
laundry on certain days. Tiffany: I spent time in two of them. Pretty much the same. Except for
2 man cells to open bay dorm with bunkbeds lined up in
units. Two man cells are very comfortable. And much more
privacy also. If you get along with your bunkie then you got it
made i the shade. Yall can share and look out for one
another. Sarah: The nicest thing about my block is the light in
my room was blown out so I didnt have a bright
light in my face. The worst part is being a
bigger person and having to lift myself up on to
a metal bunk bed with nothing to help you up on
this floating big piece of metal. Rachel: i dont know what a block is so i could not
answer this questions,,all i know is some of the
officers were very nice, and the food is just
disgusting, the sandwichs the smell of them made
me want to throw up the best part was the
cooking and going home i hated being there Betty: the nicest part was evertbody got along and did
not fight there really wasnt anything nice about
the cell the beds were hard the pillows were
thin and the blanket was rough the worst part
was it was cold in there and was not very clean
it was just dirty and the toilets and sink was
very small and did not get any hygene products
