Good Behavior

Interview with Scott, Gary and Armando

JM: Did you get off early based on good behavior?
Scott: yes i got out early based on my good time
Gary: I DID NOT HAVE ANY VIOLENT CRIMES OR CRIMES WITH A GUN EVER. SO THEY SENT ME TO THE MONTGOMERY COUNTY PRE -RELEASE CENTER WHICH WAS A WORK PROGRAM. MY LAWYER REALLY PLAYED A PART IN GETING ME A LIGHT SENTENCE.
Armando: Yes I did. With a one year sentence, if you stay out of trouble, 2 months automatically comes off of your sentence.

JM: What is the most time off you can receive for good behavior?
Scott: you have only get 5 days off a month for good behavior
Gary: I DONT KNOW BUT I THINK THE COUNTY WAS 90% TIME TO BE SERVED.
Armando: The most time you can get off on a one year sentence is two months so instead of serving one year, you serve ten months. It's all based on the formula 5/30. For every 30 days you serve without getting in trouble, you receive 5 days off of your sentence.

JM: What types of actions do you need to avoid in order to get time off? Did you ever witness somebody losing time off for good behavior?
Scott: aoid gangs avoid fights avoid arguments with the officers in charged you cannot destuct the jail property loudness gambling.ive seen people lose time off for fighting andgiving the guards a hard time
Gary: GET IN TOUCH WITH THE COUNSELOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE TO GET YOURSELF IN POSITION FOR EARLY RELEASE. YOU REALLY HAVE TO LISTEN AND OBEY THE CORRECTIONAL OFFICERS, DO NOT ARGUE WITH THEM . AND DO NOT GET INTO FIGHTS WITH COs OR OTHER INMATES.
Armando: You must avoid getting into fights, disrespecting officers and getting caught with contraband. Contraband is considered anything that you are not supposed to have. Yes, I have witnessed a couple of inmates losing good time because of fighting.
