Interview with Tim, Adrian, Maria, Ashley, Lindsay, Victor, Deborah and Katherine
JM: How long was your sentencing for? Tim: See previous answer. Adrian: two or three days here and there Maria: I'm not sure I understand this question. The
actual process in front of the judge took only
minutes but I was in the courtroom for about an
hour while the judge handled the cases before me.
I was ultimately given three months to comply with
the plea agreement I accepted. Ashley: I DID 9 MONTHS ALL TOGETHER Lindsay: I was sentenced to the Clark County Detention Center
for 30 days flat, with probation not to exceed three
years. Victor: 66 Days for not paying fines. When I was first
arrested I spent 4 days in Jail before being
released due to "no complaint on file." Deborah: My sentencing was 64 days. Katherine: IAM NOT SURE I BELIEVE I GOT TRANSFERED TO
HENDERSON
JM: Did you spend time in a holding cell after your sentencing? If so, what was that like? If you didn't where did they they take you instead? Tim: Upon arrest in Henderson, spent a few hours in
holding cell. Then jailed in solitary confinement
with no phone access for two days. Hearing for
traffic ticket on third day. Then transported to
holding cell in CCDC for evening. Next day Court.
Then back to holding cell. Next day transported
back to Henderson for $100 check. Back to holding
cell (CCDC). On 6th day after arrest jailed at
CCDC. Next day transported to North Las Vegas for
second $100 check. Traumatic. Adrian: no Maria: I spent almost two days in holding before being
moved upstairs to inmate housing. Holding is OK
because you can talk as much as you want to the
other prisoners but incredibly uncomfortable
because it's just wood benches against concrete
walls. Super uncomfortable, no shower, no ability
to even wash your hands effectively. Ashley: YES I DID AND IT WAS NASTY AND COLD.THEY PUT WAY
TOO MANY PEOPLE IN THERE TOGETHER AND IT IS SO
COLD IN THERE YOU CUDDLE WITH GIRLS YOU DONT EVEN
KNOW.THEY IGNORE YOU A LOT IN THERE AND THEY DONT
HELP WITH ANYTHING Lindsay: Yes. I was in a holding cell for who knows how
long. Hours? Days? None of us (the rest of the
other girls and I) had any concept of time, except
when a guard would check up on us every hour or so
and document the time and status. We all just
talked, some of us cried, others tried to get
sleep. There was a television on. The channel
showed Home Improvement, one of my favorite
childhood shows now ruined. It was cold, it was
awful, and I just wanted to wake up from the
nightmare. Victor: Yes, I was in a room with 25 other men(actual
count), the room had no beds, just benches made of
concrete, concrete floor, freezing air, no
blankets, no pillows, florescent lights on 24
hours a day. I spent 6 days in there. I was given
3 meals a day in holding(sack lunch style that
resembled cat food for meat, stale bread, moldy
fruit, expired milk) I lost 35 lbs during my 66
days. Deborah: I spent time in the holding cell that morning they picked me up
and booked me. About 2 hours. It was packed full of all kinda
different women. Prostitutes, drug addicts, Mothers and
drunks. There's one toilet a sink. Lots of the women were
spread out laying on the cement benches and some women
were laying and sitting on the floor. Eventually they took some
of us up to different modules to sleep in a soft mattress. So I
already had a bed number when I went to court later that
morning. Katherine: YES IT WAS A HOLDING CELL THERE WAS ABOUT 50
PEOPLE IN A SMALL CELL WITH 1 TOILET.HAD TO WAIT
UNTIL THEY HAD OFFECER TO TAKE ME BACK TO UNIT.
