Good Behavior

Interview with Jon, Sabrina, Ronchie Boy, Gary, Lance, Seth, Liz, Nate, Duane and Aaron

JM: Did you get off early based on good behavior?
Jon: yes
Sabrina: no, the gaurds said i had great behavior and actually listened to my story and helped me out. they totally understood. one told me it was sad to see me in such a mess and that it could even happen to his lil girl and the thought scared him that us females are not being takin care of.
Ronchie Boy: yea they took 28 days off my 90.
Gary: yes i did the staff wanted me to get out as soon as possible to get real medical attention for my feet taht were not healing and the jails medical dept. was not able to treat
Lance: Yes I served 14 days out of my 20... due to good behavior.
Seth: I wouldn't say i got off early i would just say that i got credit for timed served.
Liz: im not sure, they counted the time i did in county as part of my prison sentance
Nate: Yeah on 120 days I would do 90 on good behavior.
Duane: yes. I did 8 months for my year and it was a long time.
Aaron: oh yes! I did 59 on a 90 (1 day credit on my initial booking)

JM: What is the most time off you can receive for good behavior?
Jon: I the county I think its all pretty much the same. 10 days off for every 30
Sabrina: dont know
Ronchie Boy: you know I never asked. I was actually surprised when the guard came in around 2am and told me to roll it up.
Gary: they call it 2 for 1 2days good 1 day off
Lance: The most time off an Inmate can receive based off of "Good Time" is only 1/3 of the Time Sentenced.
Seth: you can recieve 1/3 of your time off for good behavior.
Liz: im not sure if its consitared good time or not but you do 7 days for every 10 your given
Nate: Think its 2 days every week
Duane: 4 months from the year
Aaron: per Washington state law you receive 1/3 off. When you begin serving your time the good behavior credit is automatically given to you. You have to break major rules to loose your good time. You can ask the C.O. to look up your release date at any time.

JM: What types of actions do you need to avoid in order to get time off? Did you ever witness somebody losing time off for good behavior?
Jon: You need to avoid fighting, excessive disruptions with the gaurds. avoid smoking and doing drugs
Sabrina: dont know, probly making your bed
Ronchie Boy: don't fight, keep your shit organized, basically stay outta the guards way and mind your business.
Gary: any type of miss behaivior of breaking the rules of conduct i saw people get into fights and also (cheecking) thier medications to give to other inmates that deffinetly looses all of your good time
Lance: I never witnessed someone losing their good time.. But thats because you gotta do something pretty Stupid/Crazy to pull that off.. like Punching your COrrectional Officer in the face.. or Doing Drugs etc...
Seth: you need to avoid actions like fighting, stealing, insulting the guards, damaging your cell or tank, also you definitely need to avoid contraband. i saw i think it was only 1 person lose their good time and it was for a fight.
Liz: a couple of the girls were put in the "tank" for fighting"solitary confinement"and i believe that they had to do there whole time, but i don't know that for a fact, just something i heard talked about
Nate: No stealing, nofighting, respect guards, respect yourself, no contraband, its really common sense who wants to do more time then they have ti ya kbiw.
Duane: really I was in with low level offenders. a few guys did get hauled off. one guy was a heroin addict and his withdrawl symptoms were so bad he had to be hospitalized
Aaron: major violations - fighting, not complying with C.O.'s instructions, contraband, being a general F- UP.
