Interview with Jon, Sabrina, Ronchie Boy, Gary, Lance, Seth, Liz, Nate, Duane and Aaron
JM: Did you have regular access to telephones? Jon: yes Sabrina: yes but you can only call landlines and really
who answers those... Ronchie Boy: during rec time you could use the phone all you
want as long as there isn't a line. If there
was, then you had about 10 minutes. Gary: yes collect calls only 5 min.max Lance: Yes I did.. but only during our "Recreational
Time"... it was easily accessible... You can't
use it during your "Lockdown" Periods though... Seth: yes we had access to phones. Liz: you could use the pay phones during rec time, but
only a few of the phones were ever working
properly so you would have to wait in line for a
good one and sometimes rec was over before you
were able to get to a phone. Nate: Only when it was free time. Duane: yes, but there were always lines Aaron: Yes, it's all recorded and a bit pricey to call so
keep that in mind.
JM: What types of charges applied for calling people? How much money would you guess the average inmate spends per week on phone calls? Jon: My people had to set up a account, but it was
like 3 or 4 dollars for 15min Sabrina: probly a lot but no one really cared about that
just getting me out was important ebough Ronchie Boy: you had prepaid service called Global Tel Link.
Gary: some inmates none others would be on the phone
all of the time im geussing that some would run
up collect calls up to 1000.00 a week NO JOKE! Lance: Well I can imagine a lot.. The collect calls are
expensive to accept.... I spent about $25 during
my time there.. Seth: well for starters people had to have a account
with money on it so you can call them. that was
backwards to me because its like how are people
suppose to know to put money on an account for
something they dont know of but anyways yea and
for local calls it was i think 2 dollars and for
non local calls it was about 4 dollars or more,
depending on where you are calling out to. Liz: you could only make collect calls. and it was 1.75
for the first minute and 10 cents after that for a
total of 15 minutes.if you had to call long
distance it was considerably more . Nate: That really depends it can get expensive I would say close to
20 dollars a week. Duane: it was not cheap. I forget how much it was but my
mother was okay with it. Aaron: I put money on my call account before I committed
in . $50 but I only used about $20 on phone calls.
JM: Did you need to buy phone cards to call out? Jon: No I wish you could Sabrina: no Ronchie Boy: people on the outside deposited money to make
phone calls. Gary: no collect calls only but they had
advertisements all over on how your familly
could pre pay their cell phone to accept you
collect calls from different company's (just
antother way for the jail to make money off of
your hard ship) Lance: You couldn't buy phone cards.. even though I
figured you'd be able to... Don't understand why
they don't offer that.... instead.. you have to
set up a pre paid account if the phone you're
calling doesn't accept Collect Calls... Seth: you didnt need to but i think people did im not
sure. Liz: they didn't have phone cards when i was there,
only collect calling was allowed. Nate: I didn't because I wasnt callin long distance Duane: not at the time. we did have to set up some kind
of account Aaron: No, set up the account. Look at the Sno-Co Jail
website how to do it.
JM: Did the jail screen your calls? Jon: It says that they do Sabrina: yes of course they did Ronchie Boy: that I'm not sure Gary: absolutly ! ! ! ! Lance: I'm sure they did... Seth: yes the jail listens in on your conversations.
Liz: yes all calls were recorded. Nate: Yes every call was being monitored Duane: they screen everything. you know how that works. Aaron: Absolutely!!!
