Interview with Jon, Sabrina, Ronchie Boy, Gary, Lance, Seth, Liz, Nate, Duane and Aaron
JM: How many different blocks were there? Jon: 6 in the old jail and im not sure how many are
in the new jail Sabrina: i have no clue but a lot i think the first MOD i
was in had 24 cells Ronchie Boy: I was only in 3 places, Holding, classification,
then 4 South B, right across from the hole. Gary: 8 in old jai 16 in new jail Lance: Several... 5 Stories of Multiple Blocks.... each
one classified to the individual Inmate...
depending on criminal history and personality
etc....so that people that are locked up
together are somewhat the same.. you wont have
someone like me.. sharing a cell with a Child
Molestor or something.... Seth: i am not exactly sure but they were sorted by
alphabet up to g so i would say 7. Liz: im not sure, there are multiple floors at the jail
that house inmates. Nate: Alont north, east, west south with 5 floors. Duane: Snohomish county is huge. I have no idea. they
hold the worst type of offenders there. Aaron: Old Jail (where I was in Trustee) had 5 floors.
New jail has A-G. Old jail will start with a
number like 3N, new jail starts with a letter like
G4.
JM: Did they have names? If so, what were they? Jon: 2south 2north 3south 3north 4south a and 4southb
4north c 4north d 5south and 5north Sabrina: names? yeah mine was Paris...Paris Hilton and it
was not a good thing Ronchie Boy: I'm sure they did. Gary: old jail 1a,1bthru 4a,4b new jail was 1-2-3-4H
thru im not sure but they also had max security
and medical blocks and mental health blocks Lance: 3 North, 4 South etc... Seth: they did have names but unfortunately i do not
remember them. Liz: they had numbers ie 3-north A,B,C,and D,meaning
third floor north east south or east with
corresponding letter designation. Nate: 2north, 3South, 3north b, 3north a think you get the picture Duane: 4sb, 4wb, 4nb,4eb. shoot, I don't know.
everything is classified there. Aaron: Not official names. Certain floors were for
certain people. 3N=Trustee, 2N, 2S, E1 were for
women. Floor 4 and 5 were for problem inmates.
MHU & OH(medical housing unit). Kitchen & laundry
were in new jail S1.
JM: Which types of inmates were housed in the different blocks? Jon: 2n is intake 2s is population 3s is population
3n is for the trusties. 4north c and d is
segregation. and 4 south is the good behavior
tank.
5s is protective custdoy, thats for rats rapo's
and child molesters Sabrina: theres common and phyc thats where i was and
there are so many more like for sick ppl, and
disabiled ...ect Ronchie Boy: I am not sure. Gary: I belive they were classified into low level
offenders and low risk to mental health to
trusties that did work for free and work release
that paid to stay at jail Lance: Well i can only speak for my block... and they
were just regular people...some just down on
their luck... Seth: well i was in g block at first and from my
understanding that was intake and general
population. i know f was for like felons and things
like that and anything else im not too sure. 5th
floor is protective custody and mental inmates. Liz: as far as i know they mixed pretty much every body
together, unless you were in salutary confinement
for behavioral problems or suicide watch or if
they were informants for the police, then they were
placed in protective custody. Nate: The ones that were at risk, like snitches or the ones that
wanted to kill then selfs I don't know how people do time like
that never made sence to me. Duane: all kinds. the worst and the least. in snoco they
do it all. lots of shackles on inmates. you gotta
wonder what they did but you don't ask. lots of
weirdness. Aaron: See above.
JM: What do you remember being the nicest and worst parts about the different blocks? Jon: The nicest part is um... the hallway. The blocks
are dirty and I saw a few people with mersa, and
heard stories of scabies Sabrina: nicest-when a lady gaurd pulled me out of my
cell and had me sit next to her in her office
and told me it was ok and she knew i didnt
belong, she told me id get thro it and hoped i
could see good in such a bad situation
worse-a gaurd spit on me when i was in the hole
and would not give me water on his shift Ronchie Boy: I was in a dorm situation 20 dudes in each dorm,
I was in bed 20 on the top tier. Everyone was
pretty much clean.
The worst part really is using the bathroom
after someone took a shit. Gary: the medical unit was the worst you were on 23 hr
lock down they kept it very cold on purpose
probbly to keep the bactieria down but gave you
only one blanket to freeze the whole time the
old jail was dlapitated and dirty but the new
jail was ok (for jail) Lance: Nicest?? lol... There is absolutely NOTHING nice
about being in a Certain Jail Block.... Now
Worst?? I could go on forever... but Snohomish
COunty Jail.. treats people so bad.. I felt like
a POW there... the Conditions were horrible...
Dirty.. Extremely Cold... SHowers are Cold.. All
FOod Looks like it cameout of a Tube.... Seth: the nicest thing i can say was that the blocks are
definitely segregated which i think is good
because of the diversity of the different chrimes.
there is a girls and boys side of each block. all
the blocks had a inmate worker setup where you can
work to earn more food or freetime. the worst part
was the two man cells i would say and that it was
fairly cold in the blocks. Liz: the worst was being placed on the floor on
withdrawal wall which was the open area close to
the guard desk, which was also the rec area.so that
you were in plain view of everybody during rec
time and meal time.there wasnt any "nice" part of
any block that i saw how ever it was better to
have a "bunk" than be on the floor. Nate: Well the worst was lock down, no one likes to be locked down
for the whole night an several days at a time. The nice part
when the guard would let us out early if we behaved an did
what the guard had told us to di it was reallt cool Duane: well, there was tv and games during rec times.
the food totally sucked. why could the food not
be better? like refried beans and tortillas would
cost more than the horrible stuff they fed us?
the initial holding block was very cold. on
purpose I think to keep us in bed. it was a bit
warmer in the actual cell block. Aaron: In Trustee we had a "track" on the upper tier we
could walk around for exercise (30 laps was a
mile, or so we were told). We also had an
enclosed movie room that was on the upper tier
that had a great view of north Everett (Mountains,
the City, etc) that I would watch the sunset
(ahhh, the little joys of life). The worse was
the oldness of the old jail. We would clean daily
but still it's the old jail.
