Meals

Interview with Jon, Sabrina, Ronchie Boy, Gary, Lance, Seth, Liz, Nate, Duane and Aaron

JM: How many meals did you get per day?
Jon: 3
Sabrina: 3 if you can call them meals
Ronchie Boy: 3 meals
Gary: 3 very in adiquate meals
Lance: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Seth: we get 3 hots and a cot literally.
Liz: 3 breakfast, lunch and dinner
Nate: We got 3 meals a day
Duane: three meals if you could call them that
Aaron: 3+. Worked in Kitchen (Special Diets) so I ate very well for being in jail. If you are male, can get to trustee, ask to work in the kitchen. You will eat better and much more.

JM: How would you rate the food? Please give details of why.
Jon: its pretty bad
Sabrina: oh about a negitive 50 i didnt eat it i dont know how anyone could its discusting and my cat would turn it down
Ronchie Boy: below average.
Gary: absolutly horrible, the only thing fresh was an apple or an organge or cabbage everything else was loaded with tons of carbs to just barely enoughto mantain a human beings weight one was all ways starving there there was one small cup of (juice) at evere meal whicth was just sugar water
Lance: 1/10 It Looks disgusting.. has absolutely no flavor... and isn't filling at all... and the Bread tasted horrible... How can you mess up bread?? i never understood that...
Seth: i would rate the food a 4 because it is not regular food. for starters you can take a bite of the food and tell it is not real at all like no part of it is real. also you only eat the food cuz you literally dont want to die of starvation. if you get hungry enough the food taste like a 7 tho hahahaha
Liz: on a scale of one to ten,one being the worst and ten being the worst about a two. the worst part was that it was mostly starchy food with no flavor and you were given a plastic cup when you first arrived that you brought with you at meal times were you could get one cup of watered down koolaid with no sugar.
Nate: rating: the food edit hard very gross I would say out of a 10 it wouldn't be a sex after time I got a hair in it that's not exaggerating it was just gross they mean something better than others but no mechanic LCD is discussing their burgers were tiny little patties and it wasn't even real you know it wasn't no McDonalds I'll tell you that it was just disgusting.
Duane: horrible. it was as if they deliberately made it awful. it could have been a lot better. I mean the basic ingredients were okay but the people cooking it were so inept it seemed like deliberate sabotage. why cook pasta until it is so over cooked that it is reduced to slime?
Aaron: Pretty bad. But, in Special Diets we had access to a lot of better food (eggs, cheese, Beef patties, rice, turkey ends & pieces, milk, etc.)

JM: Did you have any favorite/least favorite meals?
Jon: biscets and gravy
Sabrina: one cookie thats it
Ronchie Boy: I liked the so called biscuits and gravy, my least favorite was the tuna fish, although I doubt it was really tuna fish.
Gary: a person aws just happy to eat at all i geuss any thing fresh was good or a hardboild egg because you knew it wasnt fake or chemicals
Lance: No.... the sick thing about being locked up there is that... I remember the first couple days i refused to eat all my food.. because it was so bad... but obviously you get hungry... and your mind just goes into survival mode... so i ended up cleaning my trays constantly and still being hungry..
Seth: my favorite meal was taco something. i cant remember the whole name but it was green beans with spanish rice with the vegetables and usually a big roll with 2 cookies and some juice. i liked that. i do have a least favorite but just cant seem to remember right now.
Liz: breakfast was the best because you were given a small carton of 1% milk and sometimes orange or apple slices
Nate: nachos with my favorite I think I was there best meal I've had on my least favorite would have to be the patties gross.
Duane: the petrified burritos were tooth breakers. all the "meat" was turkey based. the eggs were who knows what. all of it sucked. some maybe not as bad.
Aaron: A lot of times the meals were basically the same with some minor changes. Spanish rice, dirty rice, goulash are all the same. The "stroganough" was the worse. The soft tacos were the best.

JM: Were there any other snacks offered outside of meals? What was commissary like and how expensive was it?
Jon: no
Sabrina: yes but not for me
Ronchie Boy: you could buy stuff from comissary. It's been a while, but I think you order on Thursdays and got it Tuesdays
Gary: for me there was and for diebectics there wass also the commissary was a joke a pakage of noodels that costed .10 cents in the store would cost $ 1.50 in the commisarry well you get the drift
Lance: No.. not unless you were a TRUSTEE which were inmate workers.. but even thats stupid because you get a little nice snack.. but they work you like a dog...Commissary was ridiculous... overpriced.. and its useless buying a lot of stuff.. because you don't get lockers.. just these stupid bins... so buying junk food in prison is just opening yourself up to other inmates stealing from you...
Seth: there was snacks offered outside of meals every night in trustee. commissary was nice all the stuff was acually a lot cheaper than i would have expected. commissary is mainly so that you can have extra food for those who eat a lot or hella junk food you cant have during the week cuz you are in jail.
Liz: you could get a sack snack if you were pregnant in the evenings,or you could order commisary once a week if you had money on your books.the prices werent to bad, but you had to wait 4-5 days till you recieved it.you could order mostly junk food or soup of some sort, but you had to buy a cup and you could only have one, so you made your soup out of the same cup you had to use for any beverage you ordered
Nate: you got three meals a day unless your trust you then you got a little bit more commissary what super expensive that was the only other where you were going to eat though thankfully my family was there to help me out.
Duane: no snacks. commissary was okay. rather spendy compared to store prices but not too out of line. there were vending machines too, and the candy bars were really not too much more than store prices.
Aaron: Commissary was reasonable. I checked in with $165 and used all but $20. I spent $65 the first week on toiletries, sundries, some food, more T-Shirt, socks, underwear, etc to get started. From there I would just buy stuff to maintain.
